DIGIVILLE
Tuesday 6th March

Lighthouse’s Digital Lounge, This was a free event.

Tim Fleming has joined us to present his work and talk about how he goes about responding to a brief, and putting together a set. Tim is a graphic artist and director. He has been Fat Boy Slim’s VJ for the last 4 years. He recently did the visuals for the Madness tour as well as their new video.

Tim Fleming is a Brighton-based graphic artist and the director of Plastic Pictures and Plastic Reality.

Tim started as a creative in advertising, fascinated by the power of an image to captivate and influence people’s lives. With the rise of desktop computing power in the early 90’s Tim knew something serious was happening, he threw himself into the embryonic digital arts scene. Despite having no formal artistic or computer training, he was soon exhibiting at the ICA and the Barbican.

Tim’s interest in billboard-style imagery expanded to a desire to use whole moving walls of colour to entertain and enthrall large groups of people. As Fatboy Slim’s VJ he has entertained 250,000 people on Brighton beach, and 1.5 million in Brazil. He recently did the visuals for the Madness tour, as well as their new video.

Tim has extensive experience in producing graphics for other international music acts including Radiohead, Massive attack, Adam Freeland and Dave Clark. He has created transcendent, immersive environments for Sony Playstation, MTV, Nokia, Red Bull and Channel 4, as well as exhibiting at Sonar in Barcelona for John Peel.  Working with Fatboy Slim again at Glastonbury 2005, he put Norman in the middle of an 81 metre squared LED, with the audience being given 3d glasses to see the full effect.  This year he did the visuals for Radio 1 DJ Scott Mills’ New Years Eve show.

Roland and Pioneer currently sponsor Tim – he likes to think of himself as a kind of graphics athlete!
