DIGIVILLE

Tuesday March 28th 2006 7.30pm at the Hanbury Ballroom, 83 St Georges Road, Kemp Town, Brighton.

In association with Digiville, videoclub will be launched at the Hanbury Ballroom, in Kemp Town on 28th March. Tell everyone and bring yourself along for an evening of contemporary video and moving image.

Metin Alsanjak will be speaking at the launch event, and will be answering questions about artists' moving image after the screenings with the artists. Metin has written several pieces on artists' moving image including articles on the work of James Benning, Margaret Tait, Owen Land, Cornford&Cross and Cate Elwes. He is also an editor for the new Vertigo website, which will be launched soon.

Videoclub is a new showcasing opportunity for artists who are pushing film, video and moving image practice. videoclub is responding to the increasing interest in moving image work created by artists. They are also responding to the limited opportunities available to see and critically discuss quality moving image work that is artist based.

Videoclub has developed a 10-month long programme over 2006, sourcing art work through open submission, which is then selected and curated by videoclub, culminating in curated screenings across Brighton venues in 2006.

Their intention is to support artists, but also to showcase new artists' film, video and moving image work to the public to increase public engagement with moving image, and to create opportunities for critical engagement with contemporary art work.

For further information on future screening dates, take a look at their website. If you are interested in submitting work for videoclub, go to the videoclub website, where you can download the terms and conditions, and a submission form.
