The artists behind the Undercurrent exhibition, now showing in our Digital Lounge, talk about their work, debating themes connected to the Undercurrent project - the city and our personal relations to urban space, cross-continental collaboration and international exchange, as well as the contemporary Chinese media arts scene.

The conversation will be chaired by Keith Whittle, director of /sLab with 8GG (Jiang Haiqnig and Fu Yu) and D-Fuse (Matthias Kispert, Michael Faulkner and Keri Elmsly).

Please note that the number of people able to attend this event is restricted and we will operate on a first come, first served basis.

D-Fuse is a group of London based artists, founded in the mid 90s by Michael Faulkner, which explores a range of creative media, from art, architecture, photography + film to live A/V performances.

Working in a trans-disciplinary method with cutting edge technology, D-Fuse encourage their audience to reflect on the process of experiencing art in a multi-dimensional, multi-sensory way with emphasis on the key relationship between sound + image.

D-Fuse's visual art has been shown internationally - including The V&A Museum [London], Sonar [Barcelona], onedotzero festivals, Nokia Labs in St Petersburg and Moscow,  Mori Arts Center [Tokyo], Rotterdam + Seoul film festivals, Eyebeam [NYC], San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, Prix Ars Electronica [Linz], and the Lisbon and Valencia biennales.

Their first solo exhibition entitled ‘TRANSMIT’ at the prestigious MU Gallery in Eindhoven, Holland, presented a retrospective of D-Fuse’s diverse practice. www.mu.nl

As well as contemporary classical composers Steve Reich [performed with The London Symphony Orchestra] and the Italian ensemble Alter Ego [who work with Salvatore Sciarrino and Philip Glass].

Undercurrent

Digiville is our monthly event for digital and moving image artists. Each event incorporates a diverse cross-section of the digital arts community, from installation artists to animators and VJs, and involves an initial presentation of work, either by individual artists or artist groups, leading to a Q&A/discussion session, followed by an informal ‘club night’ with DJs/sound artists and VJs. The artists invited to present their work or perform are a careful mix of well-known names and less established artists.
