Speed Dating Night - the low down.
Doors open at 6.30 pm
Mix and Mingle
Buy a drink at the bar. Register for the 'Speed Dating' section of the evening. Write out an ID badge. Use the notice board to post up your "Desperately Seeking" ads or ideas for networking forums or events and check out what other people are on the look out for.
This board will be transcribed and emailed to attendees at a later date so do write legibly.
A few Intros and Icebreakers
Your Own Two Minute Pitch
This is optional, but go on! Have a stab at selling yourself. It's informal and just for fun but this is great practice for when you get in front of those film execs - and will give everyone a glimpse of what you are about. This really helps fuel the networking process and gets better results, faster.
We are basing this element on Pecha Kucha principles (see http://www.pecha-kucha.org/what for more info on Pecha Kucha) so....
- You should prepare 3 to 5 image based slides that say something about you and your film-making experience and aspirations.
- Practice talking about your slides (i.e. yourself) for two minutes max.
- Register your intention to Pitch, by email to janet@lighthouse.org.uk, as soon as possible.
- Submit your slides in PowerPoint format to that same email address, up until 5pm on the 10th February - or
- At a pinch, bring them along on a memory stick by 6.30pm on the night and hand to Phil, our technician.
No idea how big a response we will get but there's a 40-minute ceiling on this part of the evening. First come first served so do register ASAP.
Interval to refuel and bail out
Speed Dating
This is where you get to sit down, one to one, and talk to possible 'Artistic Matches' for 3-5 minutes (depending on how many we are on the night). Musical chairs with a bit more purpose - and the same number of chairs each round, hopefully.
Bring along your business cards (or pad and pencil) and swap details if you like the cut of each other's jib.
How Was it for You?
Bit more mix and mingle, freestyle. Then a scout round the room to see if people have struck up any new connections and to round up new initiatives, ideas, burgeoning projects, partnerships and interactions.
