Argus Reanimated

Argus Reanimated was an installation with visuals by metaLuna (Craig Whittington and Hayley Atkinson) and sound by Rucas (John Castrillon & Rupert Johnson).
In 2006, Craig and Hayley were living in the Argus Lofts directly above the redevelopment of the new Lighthouse premises. Lighthouse commissioned the duo to produce an interactive installation using sound and photos collected during the renovation. After extensive digital manipulation, this content was reanimated live during the launch event for the new premises to create a dynamic audio-visual experience.
The audience were invited to take part by using midi controllers and a theremin. Although the installation followed a linear progression (from the building’s previous incarnation as home of the Argus newspaper, to deserted space, then to building site), the dynamic nature of piece meant that the renovation process could be explored in unexpected ways.

metaLuna
Dynamic reactive visualists > formed in the late 90's by Craig Whittington & Hayley Atkinson, metaLuna specialise in reinterpreting the visual landscape with an original blend of urban-sci-fi visuals. They have performed at music & arts events across the globe, including Secret Garden Party, Glade Festival, Escape Into The Park, SuperCharged, Brighton Hip-Hop Festival, Global Gathering, Lost Vagueness @ Glastonbury, Drop Beats Not Bombs, AVITUK, Big Chill, Rocket Festival, AVFlux, Contact Europe, Big Day Out, The Gathering.

Rucas
John Castrillon and Rupert Johnson have been collaborating together for the past 6 years. Castrillon has been dedicated to the turntables and production having played in Brighton’s dance scene for 8 years. Rupert’s wizardry in percussion and composition has led to the creation of his own style of BEBBAHB jazzy dance. Together they are know as Rucas, with a unique sound that is deep, chunky and rhythmic with a twisted element.
