Outline: Project Summary

Funded by The Arts Council of England's A4E initiative, this challenging digital arts project has been established by South Downs Health NHS Trust and Lighthouse Arts & Training and is based at Chailey Heritage. Chailey Heritage has an international reputation for providing comprehensive medical, therapy and educational services for children and young people with severe, complex and multiple physical disabilities.

The aim of the project was to provide a means of creative expression in six profoundly disabled young people, via the medium of digital technology. Three artists were commissioned to work alongside the young people over a ten month period between September 1999 and June 2000. Digital artists Malcolm Buchanan-Dick, David Prytherch and Kate Adams, of Art Works, worked with the group to enable as far as possible independent production and operation of equipment.
